المدرج الموسيقي
يستخدم المدرج الموسيقي لتدوين العلامات الموسيقية عليه فوق الأسطر و الفراغات
و هو عبارة عن خمسة أسطر متوازية و متساوية في طولها و مسافات أبعادها بينها أربعة فراغات و يبتدأ عد أسطر المدرج الموسيقي من الأسفل إلى الأعلى يأخذ السطر في المدرج الموسيقي علامته الموسيقية حسب المفتاح الموسيقي الموجود في أول المدرج
يتم تقسيم المدرج الموسيقي إلى مقاييس زمنية متساوية ويتم هذا التقسيم بواسطة خطوط عمودية على المدرج الموسيقي وتسمى بفواصل المقياس وفي نهاية القطعة الموسيقية توضع قطعة مضاعفة إشارة إلى نهاية اللحن.

المقياس الزمني
هو المقياس بعد أن يجزأ إلى جزئين أو ثلاثة أو أربعة وكل جزء من أجزاء المقياس يسمى زمناً أو ريتم ولمعرفة عدد الأزمنة في كل مقياس يوضع رقم في أول المدرج وبعد المفتاح الموسيقي مباشرة ويكتب الوزن على شكل رقمين فوق بعضهما البعض.
